Convention Countdown

Guests

Carli Mosier

Hey Anime Overload!! I'm so happy to be a part of your convention and back in wonderful Austin, Texas. A little about me...at age 6 I began to develop my love for acting and haven't stopped, graduating from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, attending the musical theater program at the University of Houston and continuing on in film and stage productions throughout the Houston area. In 2004, after years in the theatre I began working at ADV and have appeared in such shows as Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok, as Tsubasa Maijima, and Godannar, as Kei. I've also been cast in the ADV titles: UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie as Princess Pharm; Moeyo Ken TV as Sayoko Yamazaki, and as Febronia and various voices in Xenosaga: The Animation. I'm probably best known for my performance as the sexy Detective Yukika in Nerima Daikon Brothers. You can also hear me as the proper-and quite often chaotic-Student Council President Yuri Kurosu in Magikano. Soon, you'll be able to hear me as Rina, the Green Pearl Princess, in Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch, recorded at Amusement Park Media.

I have also lent my voice as a singer to the album Voices for Tolerance alongside a multitude of talented voice actors. I'm thrilled to have recently done some work for Funimation in Evangelion and as a closing credits singer for One Piece! Most recently, I was honored to voice Daisy in the Homecoming Episode of Halo: Legends. When I'm not recording I spend time working on music as a singer and fledgling bass player and in politics, helping with my father's judicial campaign.

Matt Herms

No stranger to the anime and comics community, Matt Herms got his first professional break fresh out of high school in 2004 and has since done conceptual, promotional and interactive artwork for video games, magazines, conventions and toy companies as well as his longest passion: traditional dead-tree comic books, most notably as penciler and colorist for the all-ages hit Sonic the Hedgehog. Matt's clients include Archie Comics, SoMoGa Games, Hasbro Toys, Snafu Comics, Angry Viking Press, Halolz.com and more.

One-Eyed Doll

Described as Strawberry Shortcake meets Gwar and Valentine's Day meets Halloween with the visual impact of Japanese Anime, One-Eyed Doll is an award-winning Austin, Texas power rock trio with a loyal global fan base and extensive international press exposure. In 2010 and 2009 the group swept the SXSW Music Awards in categories such as Best New Band, Best Punk Band, Best Metal Band, Best Goth Band, Best Acoustic Guitarist, Best Producer, Best Drummer and Best Female Vocalist. The group has independently released three full-length albums, appears in Guitar World and Guitar Player magazines and has left several national tours in its wake including major anime conventions (DragonCon, AniMix, IKKiCON, Anime Overload, ShadoCon, etc.) Blazing the band's wildfire buzz amongst their growing legions of religiously crazed fans is One-Eyed Doll's cult leader: the impossible-not-to-love Kimberly Freeman, whose punishment is so sweet you'll beg for more.

Caitlin Glass

A voice actress and ADR director, Caitlin has been working in the anime industry since 2004. When she was still a college student, Caitlin was hired by FUNimation while on a tour of the studio. After her first small parts on Case Closed, she went on to play Winry in Fullmetal Alchemist, Triela in Gunslinger Girl, Hiyono in Spiral and Takane in Burst Angel. Other roles include: Vivi in One Piece, Dhianeila in Heroic Age, Miria in Baccano, Sara in StrAIn, Yakumo in School Rumble, Nerine in Shuffle!, Sumomo in Sergeant Frog, Miss Anderson in Shin-chan, Machina in Dragonaut, Katherine McDonald in Kaze no Stigma, Kazuho in Nabari no O, LaLa in D.Gray Man, Kaori in Kanon, Chachamaru & Chisame/Chiu in Negima and Saya in Black Cat. Caitlin can also be heard in Darker Than Black, Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Witchblade, BECK, Solty Rei, Hell Girl, Mushi-shi, Kenichi, Ragnarok, and Welcome to the NHK, among others.

In 2008, Caitlin directed the widely popular fan-favorite, Ouran High School Host Club, as well as playing Haruhi Fujioka. Other directing credits include Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Linebarrels of Iron, Murder Princess, Gunslinger Girl- Il Teatrino, Suzuka and FUNimation's One Piece.

Along with directing, Caitlin enjoys adapting theme songs for FUNimation dubs, and can often be heard singing one of them! She has also voiced characters in such video games as Street Fighter IV as Cammy, Final Fantasy: The Crystal Bearers as Amitadatelion, and Infinite Undiscovery as Aya.

J. Michael Tatum

Nurtured on anime classics from the tender age of Star Blazers, et al, this reclusive fanboy-turned-voice actor/writer/ADR director/flake extraordinaire spent more years than he cares to remember in what might charitably be described as freefall before landing – mostly by accident – smack dab on the industry of his dreams. To this day, some believe the small crater made by the impact remains the source of his power.

Discovered by Funimation warhorse and visionary ADR director Christopher Bevins, who cast him as Rikichi in 2005's Samurai 7, Tatum's inexplicable luck held long enough to see his flag hoisted on a slew of dream roles, most notably Kyoya Otori in the hit English language dub of Ouran High School Host Club. Other characters the man still can't believe he's had the crazy good fortune to play include: Doumeki in XXXHolic, Jiro Mochizuki in Black Blood Brothers, Isaac Dian in Baccano! God Eneru in the new dub of One Piece, Komui Lee in D-Gray Man, Dororo in Sgt. Frog, and the titular loveable savage of Heroic Age...not to mention Lawrence in Spice and Wolf, and Scar in Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

His vocal "stylings," much to the chagrin of drama teachers everywhere, he's sure, have also been featured in Romeo X Juliet, Speed Grapher, Trinity Blood, Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple, Black Cat, Nabari no Ou, Ghost Hunt, School Rumble, The Tower of Druaga, Aquarion, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles, Shuffle, Shigurui, Glass Fleet, Mushishi, and the feature-length film Vexille, among many others.

And as if being involved with so many awesome shows wasn't enough, in late 2007 the fluky so-and-so tempted fate by officially branching out into ADR directing and adaptive scriptwriting for Funimation as well. His ADR directing credits to date include Aquarion, Jyu-oh-Sei, Romeo X Juliet, Big Windup, and Rin, while his writing credits include substantial work on both Ouran High School Host Club, Heroic Age and Blassreiter. He is currently burning the midnight oil on a number of exciting projects due for release later this year. And before you ask, the "J" stands for... Well, it stands for whatever you'd like it to.

Terri Doty

Terri Doty has had the good fortune of being involved in the world of anime since 2008. She was offered a job as a Voice Director after interning for several months under Christopher Bevins. Her directing credits include: Big Windup!, RIN; Daughters of Mnemosyne, and Shikabane Hime. Along with directing, Terri has lent her voice to a multitude of shows and she has recently branched out into adaptive scriptwriting. She hosts "That Anime Show" with J. Michael Tatum. In 2007, Terri and Stephen Hoff established Evil Tofu Productions, which specializes in creating unique audio for musicians, filmmakers, and live venues (namely horror attractions).

That Anime Show

That Anime Show is the brainchild of Terri Doty, J. Michael Tatum, and Stephen Hoff. The hosts, Terri and Michael, cover a plethora of topics and aren't afraid to tell you how they really feel about anything, everything, and nothing. Guests range from voice actors to writers and engineers. No one is safe!

Descendants of Erdrick

Descendants of Erdrick are a video game tribute band based in Austin, Texas. The band was started in 2009 by core members Amanda Lepre (guitar) and Chris Taylor (bass). They were joined in 2010 by Mike "Lobos" Villalobos (guitar), and later by John Pike (drums) and Lauren Liebowitz (flute).

The band's repertoire is entirely composed of video game music recreated and performed in a live rock format. Currently the band plays music from a variety of different games, from Super Mario Bros. to The Legend of Zelda to fan-favorites Final Fantasy and Mega Man. No pre-recorded loops or synthesizers are utilized; the band prefers to recreate the original songs as accurately as possible on drums, guitars, bass, and flute.

In 2010 the band released its first independently published EP, But Thou Must, featuring selections from The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Warrior, and Metroid, all games from the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was recorded at Tequila Mockingbird Studios in Austin and engineered/mastered by John Pike. The band performed their CD release show at Game Over Videogames in Austin and were the first live band to perform in-store, which was filled to capacity with 100+ eager fans. A couple of days later, they performed a follow-up show at "Genuine By Genuine Joe's," a multiple band show event at Genuine Joe's Coffee in Austin, and independently drew a capacity crowd of 50+ attendees. Though the band is still relatively new, they have established a rapport with their audience and continue to draw a following, show after show.
